Nummynims now has an Etsy Shop!! Currently I just have my yoga mat bag (as seen in a previous post). I hope to add more products soon. Don't really know what to expect from it, but it sounded like a fun idea, was easy to open, and who knows maybe I'll get some bites from a few fans out there!

fuz @ ICFF
"corky" (left) & "dusty" (right) w/felt dog eraser
FUZ (company by Josh Jakus) had some really fun products at the show. All the products shown are made from recycled materials and/or excess material waste from factories (wool felt, wood, cork, rubber, etc). Very sustainable! I got a black rubber napkin hug as a takeaway! It was my favorite takeaway from the show. All their products can be purchased on the FUZ site. Pleased to hear that FUZ is a Josh Jakus company. I have one of his UM bags made from recycled industrial felt and think it's a really great design.

design glut @ ICFF
Really loved Design Glut (Kegan Fisher and Liz Kinnmarkt) at the show this year! Their stuff is really creative and useful as well as nicely designed. "Egg pants" are sooo cute and keeps your eggs from falling over. The "cubic electric switchplates" are fun for your light switches and electric outlets and play tricks on your eyes. "Hookmaker" is a playful way to store and hang small things you have around. The "Dow Jones Hanky" is a hankerchief with the graph of the Dow's last 5 years. You can also have the hankies custom embroidered with your personal portfolio too. All these can be purchased on their site.

tweenbots...help them find their way
These tiny cardboard robots designed by Kacie Kinzer roam the city in hopes that someone will help them find their way. The robots are human-dependent--navigating the city with the help of people they encounter. They roll in a straight line, at a constant speed. The little flag at the top indicates their end goal destination. If the Tweenbots are headed the wrong way, people who are willing to engage them will physically turn/point them in the right direction where it will continue to roll.
Soooo cute! I hope I run into one soon! (Thanks Jeff for the find!)
Here's a map of it's run around Washington Square Park: (Course time = 42 mins. People encountered = 29)

old oregon trail game_virtual apple
Ford the river!...Hunting...Your Oxen was stolen in the middle of the night...John has dysentery...
Oregon Trail on the old apple computers was definitely one of my favorite games in school. I think everyone remembers the classic black and green screen. Here's a Virtual Apple site where you can play the classic Oregon Trail online and other old apple games too. (Thanks Danny for the find.)
cute pork buns
On the cutesey handicraft side of things, here's some cute crocheted cha siu bao (aka. bbq pork buns) Kristin found. The Toki Cafe sells them along with other crocheted foods like dim sum and sushi on Etsy. (Etsy is an online site offering the buying and selling all handmade things)

"I wanted to put something else in there. A living thing"..."She's small and naked and human, and all around her is hard, cold, sharp, and dirty, and everything is in ruins" -Miru Kim realizing there was something missing from her photos...
Photographer, Miru Kim, took these beautiful photographs of a nude model in these really incredible, abandoned, industrial spaces or ruins that I think are pretty spectacular. The composition, texture, light, and setting of each photo is amazing and sometimes surreal. Prints are available for purchase on her site as well as more photos just like these taken at other locations. I also found an article at Esquire that describes the experiences while shooting at these locations. (Thanks Hannah for the great find!!)

Times Square 1961
Times Square 2009
There's this pretty awesome photo blog site I found called NYC Grid. It's a photo blog dedicated to exploring New York block by block. They have tons of galleries with photos of MANY different blocks in NYC. This gallery I like in particular because it compares differnt areas and landmarks of NYC during 1961 vs 2009. Check it out by clicking here.

Prada and James Jean
One of my recent favorite artists is James Jean. I first discovered his work in Prada's Spring/Summer 08 campaign. His whimsical, charcoal drawings that covered the walls and merchandise of Prada stores were incredible. I fell in love with them immediately. His work is varied and includes comic book illustration and animation. His art is provacative, whimsical, inspiring, among many other descriptions I could give. Check out his site for more examples of his work.
